WorkAdvance is now recruiting for training programs in healthcare and manufacturing. Apply now if you have a strong work ethic and great attitude but need technical training for a career in advanced manufacturing or healthcare.

Our 8-week, 120 hours on the basics of machining course has been approved by local manufacturing companies–to assure they’ll hire right out of it.

The STNA/Chronic Disease Management program is being offered in conjunction with a major local employer–you receive your STNA and a certificate in Chronic Disease Management to increase your career opportunities.

Spots are limited! Applicants must meet eligibility criteria and will be required to attend a WorkAdvance Orientation.

Entry-level machining training now available in Cuyahoga County

WorkAdvance has partnered with Cleveland Industrial Training Center to develop a new entry level training program for WorkAdvance participants. Over the course of 8-weeks, participants will spend 120 hours on the basics of machining. Participants will also spend 30 hours learning about the important ‘soft’ skills needed for manufacturing jobs and will receive guidance on job-search strategies. At the end of their training, participants will apply what they have learned in a 40-hour internship at a real manufacturing facility.

After successfully completing this training, participants will be prepared for entry-level jobs at Northeast Ohio manufacturing companies and will receive the following:

Career development and advancement support from a coach with over 30-years of experience in manufacturing
Job-leads from WIRE-Net, an industry association with over 200 manufacturing members
On-going supports and assistance from WorkAdvance

Spots are limited! Applicants must meet WorkAdvance and CITC eligibility criteria and will be required to show they are able to commit to the 8-week class (24 hours of class time).

Today over 40 people showed up at the Rockport Library to learn more about WorkAdvance and PPG. Participants were able to get information about applying to PPG and learn about how WorkAdvance can help improve their application. PPG attended to talk about their openings, which start at $13-14/hour. You can still participate by calling 614-696-7311 and asking to attend a manufacturing orientation!

Compass Family & Community Services (formerly Burdman Group) will be hosting informational recruiting sessions in conjunction with various local One-Stops, to promote WorkAdvance—a new career pathway program targeting manufacturing and healthcare careers across theMahoningValley. The Informational Sessions will be held at Local One-Stop Offices and will feature employers from these two industries. The employers will tell candidates about career opportunities available in each field.

WorkAdvance offers free career services to help participants connect with career paths in manufacturing or healthcare. Participants will have access to career coaching, occupational skills training, job-readiness workshops, job leads, and other supports to assure they can get a job AND advance within their chosen sector. Income and eligibility criteria apply and there are a limited number of slots available for the WorkAdvance Program.

WorkAdvance is a collaboration of Northeast Ohio workforce and economic development organizations working together to serve 1,000 Northeast Ohio residents interested in entering or advancing in the manufacturing or healthcare sectors. Led by Towards Employment, WorkAdvance was awarded $5.5 million for the five-year project which includes a random assignment research design to evaluate program impact.

Collaborators includes the Center for Family and Children, Employment Connection, the Literacy Cooperative of Greater Cleveland, WIRE-Net, MAGNET, NOHSIC, The Center for Health Affairs, the Mahoning-Columbiana Training Association, The Business Resource Network, NEO HealthForce, and lead Mahoning Valley partner, Compass Family and Community Services.
